Should children’s TV educate or entertain?
Have
you ever thought about new children’s programmes? It is a fact that
children spend a lot of time in front of the TV. Some people think we should take advantage of this and provide education while they are having fun. So, we are going to analyze and develop, in the paragraphs below, the points we have mentioned.
Nowadays, children spend a lot of time in front of TV, so it is a good idea to use that time to teach them things and to encourage them to be curious and creative. Like everybody knows, children imitate what others do, so, if TV is violent, they will learn that. Even sometimes some characters express their own opinions, and those could be rude. Because of that, we should be very careful of what we show on TV. It should make children act on their own, be more independent and critical, and make them think for themselves.
Also,
TV should entertain, because, sometimes, children use it to have fun or
kill time, and if TV programmes only educate, they would be a bit
boring for them. At the same time, it is a cheap way for everyone to be
entertained without spending a lot of money. Nowadays, children spend a lot of time in front of TV, so it is a good idea to use that time to teach them things and to encourage them to be curious and creative. To sum up, we think that television can educate while entertaining. When we were children, we used to watch different kinds of programmes we found amusing and educative at the same time, so we think it could work nowadays. This proves that there exists a balance between fun and learning, although it is not always easy to achieve.
We agree about that, it is true that children are watching tv all day, but we think it won't be good if they continue watching a lot of tv, because all cities have parks or friends that can obiously help you kill time.

I totally agree whit this essay but I also think what most children prefer when they want to entertain themselves is not only television but computer,(surfing the web, computer games and stuff) so what we have to modify is the same on the computer.

I completly agree with the person who wrote this, TV has to entertain and at the same time educate, this is possible. But it shouldn´t only educate or entertain. Both would be great.

First of all, I think the same as the writer. I´m agree with this person. In my opinion children should watch less television. They should go out, play with other people. But, tv is a way of entertainment too. Tv has to entertain and educate at the same time.

Our opinion is that it's almost impossible to make a programme educational and funny at the same time . Important things couldn't be taught in a funny way because children wouldn't take it seriously . Children have to learn important things from ther family and school. In conclusion children should watch tv programmes in their free time.

I think that chilrend`s television should educate and be kind of funny. Programes like "Dora la exploradora" can teach a bit of English and certanly children get entertained with it. Not all the programes have to be like that because it would be sort of boring.
