J5me-Ad5. Prof. Grasso. 1ST WRITING COMPETITION: (pair work) ‘I have a stone in my mouth’

AND THE WINNER IS…

. A few years ago, my friend Peter and I were studying medicine at University. It was our first year there, we were young and happy. As time passed by, we began to have some differences. Peter was a better student than I was; he was amusing and handsome, so he became the most popular student. All the girls wanted to meet him.
I was in love with Samantha. One night in a party at the Main College, Peter kissed her with passion. He knew about my secret love to her and he didn`t care about it.
When the party was over, we came back together in my car. We were a little drunk. We had a strong argument, he tried to hit me; I lost the control of the car and we had an accident. I was angry and I didn`t help him to go out of the car. He died, but nobody knows what really happened. Silence is a stone in my mouth.      (Rosana & Julia)

Something terrible happened to my brother in his life. His wife was very jealous; she was always trying to control his life. Once I was talking on the phone with my brother when suddenly I heard her screaming. She thought that my brother was talking to his lover and started to attack him, he tried to push her away and she stumbled and hit her head on the floor. She died immediately. Everybody thought that it had been an accident, but I know the truth. Because the killer is my brother… Silence is a stone in my mouth.    (Federico & Brenda)

A friend came home yesterday. She told me about her family and about a situation she is going through. Doctors said that she has a very rare disease and she has to get a hard treatment. She has decided to keep it as a secret and she’s told me not to tell anyone. I`m scared and sad, because her family and her are very good friends of mine. Silence is a stone in my mouth.   (Nora & Florencia)

Last Friday, two best friends, John and Paul, had a meeting in a café. John was very excited about the meeting because he’d had very good news. He’d got a new job at an oil company and he’d recently rented a big flat to live with his girlfriend Sarah.
They sat at a table and had a coffee. While John was excitedly telling the news, Paul had a sad face. John realized about his friend’s face and asked – Paul, what’s wrong? Paul took a moment and said: Silence is a stone in mouth, my friend. Your girlfriend is cheating on you with her best friend, Kimberly. I’m sorry. I had to tell you this.    (Fernando & Sebastián)

We are living a difficult moment in our country. Everybody is suffering with the government. Everybody feels that the people who govern us are thieves and me too. But I think we don’t know how to express what we think and what we feel.
Everybody thinks about it, everybody talks about it but nobody knows how to change the situation.
There is something new every day, something unbelievable, incredible but we feel that nothing can change the situation. I think that our behaviour is like silence, is like a stone in our soul.  (Pedro & Gabriel)

Priest Peter: How are you John? You look tense these days.

Priest John:    Silence is a stone in my mouth…
Priest Peter:   What do you mean?
Priest John:    I have a terrible secret of the confessional.
Priest Peter:   I know you can’t talk about confessions. Do not tell me their names, just tell me what the trouble is and maybe I can give you some advice.
Priest John:   The wife of a friend has an affair with her gardener for six months.  She can’t leave any of them.
Priest Peter:   She has to come to terms…
Priest John:   Oh yes, but She confessed this five months ago and she can’t choose between them. I can’t look at him.       (Walter & Gabriel)

(In a dark room Capuletto is tied up to a chair. Corleone enters and asks him for the money)
Capuletto: I had no idea.
Corleone: Oh, silence is golden, isn’t it?
Capuletto: I’ll talk when I want to.
Corleone: So, you don’t want to talk. Nobody can see me here. Start talking or you will regret it!

(Capuletto doesn’t talk and Corleone tortures.
Later…)

Capuletto: If I had a gun I will kill you!
Corleone: Bring me the money.
Capuletto: how am I gonna do this?
Corleone: I don’t know but you have 24 hours to bring me the money or I’ll kill your wife!

(24 hours later… Again in the same room)

Corleone: Where is my money?
Capuletto: I couldn’t bring it, there is nothing I can do!
Corleone: Ok, she is gone.

(Capuletto starts crying)

Corleone: No more tears

(Corleone aims at Capuletto’s head)

Capuletto: They are going to miss me.
(Corleone fires)                                                                            (Pedro y Rodrigo)
